Support Engineer
Our client requires a Support Engineer to provide engineering development and test support services. You will have 2 years+ experience providing test support services to customers such as manufacturers/Design Engineering teams. Able to work on own initiative and in a team, communicate/liaise with other departments/companies. HNC/HND level or equivalent knowledge, with an understanding of distribution system installation/maintenance. Some familiarity with video/audio signals, 3 years+ with MS Word, Excel, Project at intermediate level. Able to negotiate/set up supply links for procurement of test equipment/calibration services. 2 years+ supporting sub-contract manufacturers, with on site/remote access services. Experience of production testing/systems involved in sub-contract manufacturing environment. ROLE: Manage Engineering lab facilities, signal distribution, TTV equipment/test equipment. Set up specific prototype equipment test configurations under instruction of development project leaders. Organise/project manage calibration service for subcontract manufacturing partners/UK Engineering design teams. Provide test equipment to support test/design Engineering teams delivering new/additional test solutions. Maintain asset records on test equipment on location for engineering supplied equipment. Co-ordinate/project manage delivery of equipment externally during project delivery phase. Develop key processes enabling product teams to best utilise current/future equipment base. Overseas travel may be required.

Post Development Design Engineer
Post Development Design Engineer. SPECIFICATION: 2 or more years experience in a high-tech software design environment; Embedded Software - Real time C programming skills with a strong appreciation for hardware and low-level interfacing; Real Time Operating Systems - pSos, VRTX, uCos, VxWorks, Nucleus, Tornado; Demonstrable experience in complex debugging and problem solving with the ability to work with complex legacy code; Competent in tools for source code maintenance and development, including PVCS, SourceSafe, CVS, MS Studio, Source Insight, makefiles; Knowledge of FPGA Design / VHDL; Knowledge of some digital video and audio standards, video compression techniques, IP protocols and networking and SNMP would be advantageous; Project Leadership skills. MAIN TASKS: Onward development of embedded software for existing products to provide functionality or feature enhancements and to engineer solutions to design problems identified by customers or internal departments; The post is predominately a software role, though there will be occasions where changes to existing firmware and hardware may be required, so skills in these areas will be a distinct advantage; The role may involve working alone, or as part of a team, and may on occasions involve Project Leadership responsibilities; Implementing and testing bug fixes and releasing production or customer specific versions in accordance with company standards and methodologies; Co-ordinating incoming defect reports, and balancing those demands against onward development to provide timely releases of new software/firmware versions; To provide guidance and assistance to Technical Support and Customer Support to diagnose and solve wider systems issues.

Embedded Software Engineer
Embedded Software Engineer: Working as part of a team on design / implementation of products and solutions. Good degree (1st or 2.1) in Electronic Engineering, with high software content; 3 years+ experience in Engineering environment. ESSENTIAL: Experience of software development for RTOS (ideally VxWorks / Nucleus); Current experience to include: Embedded software environment / embedded operating systems, Version control systems, IP networking stacks. Also experience at low level (driver) development / high level (application) development. Good working knowledge/fluency in C++ / C in embedded environment, relevant design methodologies (ideally UML); Experience of version control systems (ideally Visual Source Safe); Knowledge of OO design techniques. Able to work on legacy code. Use of Windows CE accepted with other relevant experience. PREFERRED: Experience of PowerPC processors; Use of Nucleus or VxWorks; Knowledge of UML; Experience in DVB sector including knowledge of DVB / ETSI tables; Current experience with Microsoft Visual C++ for Windows development and GNU tool chain; Good knowledge of HTML/XML and knowledge of network protocols (including HTTP, SNMP, Telnet, NTP, IGMP).

Project Engineer
Project Engineer to undertake project management and technical support tasks as assigned by the Projects Group. SKILLS: Ideally educated to a minimum of first degree level in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering or a related discipline; Involvement in / strong awareness of, the fields of broadcasting or related digital communication / high technologies; Software engineering experience in respect of Windows, Oracle and LAN technology an advantage; You will have a record of achievement in Project Management or the design and delivery of complex systems, or the ability to apply technical knowledge and understanding within a fast moving commercial environment. Willing to travel worldwide. DSP Software Engineer
DSP Software Engineer. PERSONAL SPECIFICATION: A good degree (1st or 2.1) in Electronic Engineering or equivalent is required. The candidate requires at least 1 to 2 years experience of DSP software, in particular TI devices, ideally with experience of video or audio real time processing. The candidate must be able to optimise the performance of the algorithm by analysis of the data flow through the DSP and working at a low level to maximise pipeline efficiency. An appreciation and basic understanding of hardware design principles is important. Knowledge of digital video and audio standards, video compression techniques is beneficial. ATTRIBUTES: A positive attitude is a very important attribute for the candidate. A pro-active can do approach is important, and the candidate must have a drive for success which is crucial for the company to maintain and improve its position as a world class player in a tough competitive environment. Flexibility and the ability to get results with little support is essential. Ability to communicate clearly on technical matters in written reports as well as interpersonally with design groups and teams. Ability to work with complex legacy code. Able to work as part of a team, respecting and building on other team member ideas. MAIN TASKS: Development and enhancement of DSP software, working closely with hardware and platform software engineers to produce system solutions. Undertake design, coding, unit and integration testing activities to ensure that each assignment is completed to time and fulfils the original requirements specification. Undertake investigations and produce rapid solutions to customer problems on new and existing products. To ensure all stages of the product design life cycle are documented in accordance with company standards and methodologies.
